Aimery de Schoutheete (Partner) and Gabriele Ruscalla (Senior Associate) of our International Arbitration practice contributed to the GAR’s European Arbitration Review 2022 with the Country Chapter for Belgium. The European Arbitration Review 2022 contains insight and thought leadership from 26 pre-eminent practitioners from the region. Across 196 pages, it provides an invaluable retrospective on what has been happening in some of Europe’s more interesting seats.

In the Belgian Chapter, Aimery and Gabriele analyse the current status of the international arbitration field in Belgium, and identify the most recent evolutions as well as the trends of Belgian courts in international arbitration-related matters. They review among others the CEPANI Rules and the legitimate role of administrative secretaries and examine the situation in Belgium in relation to setting-aside proceedings, the recognition and enforcement of awards and Investor–state arbitration.
