Tom Van Dyck heads a team of 4 lawyers dedicated to financial services advisory and fund regulation.
The team advises banks, insurance companies, brokers, asset managers and FinTechs on all aspects of banking, funds, financial services and insurance law. The team has contacts with the regulatory authorities (FSMA and NBB) on a daily basis and has a real expertise in negotiating with the regulatory authorities.
The team is recognized for its strategic advice in digitalization projects both for banks (PSD2, MiFID2) and insurance companies (IDD, PRIIPs), including the design of new apps and the development of innovative investment or insurance products. The team is also well known for its assistance in fund set-up, and regularly assists clients in obtaining AIFM and UCITS licenses. The team further regularly advises clients in relation to inspections, audits or enforcement actions by the regulatory authorities (market abuse, AML, mis-selling, prospectus law, consumer protection law).
Tom is recommended by all international guides as a leading lawyer.
Clients describe Tom as being "very committed, enthusiastic, available and approachable" and “always very creative” (Chambers 2019). Tom is “lauded as an outstanding and very active lawyer in the market” and recommended as “leading individual” (Who’s Who Legal Banking 2019). Tom is a member of the Bars of Brussels and of New York. He holds a Ph.D. in financial law. In 2006 and 2007, he was a visiting researcher at Harvard Law School. He joined Liedekerke as a Partner in 2010.
