Steven Peeters is a tax lawyer focusing on advising clients regarding the tax aspects of transactions in the broad sense, and in particular in the areas of mergers & acquisitions, (re)financing transactions and corporate restructurings. Steven’s practice also entails dispute resolution and controversy with respect to these areas. His experience includes assisting clients across sectors, notably in the industrial, financial and private equity sectors.

Steven holds a Master Degree in Law from the University of Leuven (KU Leuven 2009). He also obtained an LL.M. from Harvard Law School (2011) as a Fulbright scholar and with a Fellowship from the Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF). He started his career at the Brussels bar in 2009 and was admitted to the New York bar in 2012.

Since 2011, he is active as an affiliated researcher at the Institute for Tax Law of KU Leuven.

Steven joined Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick in 2014.


  • Advice to several clients (including in the industrial and private equity sectors) on the tax aspects of their intragroup and external financing and refinancing arrangements.
  • Advised an industrial group on the post-acquisition integration of Belgian target companies into the multinational group structure.
  • Assisted a multinational group throughout an in-depth Belgian transfer pricing audit (including a combination of corporate income tax and VAT aspects).
  • Advised a Belgian listed company on the tax consequences of a merger with one of its subsidiaries.
  • Advice concerning the tax structuring of a joint venture project.
