Martin Meeùs is part of Liedekerke’s International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Practice as well as Liedekerke’s African Practice.

Martin handles the resolution of complex and international civil and commercial disputes for an highly diversified client base, ranging from multinational, foreign and Belgian corporations to governments and international organisations.

Martin assists international clients in several international arbitration proceedings, under various laws (including France, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kuwait, Belgium, Switzerland and OHADA law). Martin developed specific knowledge in the energy & mining sector and in this regard he regularly acts as counsel in arbitration proceedings for African-based companies under the ICC. Martin also acts as Secretary of the Tribunal in an ICC arbitration.

Besides, Martin appears before Belgian Courts for international clients in a wide range of commercial disputes including several cross-border components.

As a member of Liedekerke’s African practice, Martin works closely with the firm’s Kinshasa subsidiary.

Prior to joining Liedekerke, Martin has obtained an LL.M. in International Law from the University of California, Berkeley, U.S.A. (UC Berkeley 2015). He obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the Université Saint Louis (USL 2011), a Master of Laws from the University of Louvain (UCL 2013) and studied as an exchange student at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain.

In addition, he took on internships at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (Hamburg, 2013) and in the legal department of the European Union delegation at the United Nations (New York, 2014).
