Jean-Michel Degée is part of the Tax Group. His work covers both the advisory and litigation in a wide variety of tax areas. Jean-Michel assists clients mainly in corporate tax, with a focus on international tax planning, corporate reorganisations and real estate transactions.

Jean-Michel teaches tax aspects of corporate reorganisations at the University of Liège (ULg). He has written numerous articles on tax law and property law.

He has a law degree from the University of Brussels (ULB 1997) and a postgraduate degree in tax law from the University of Leuven (KU Leuven 1998).

Jean-Michel has been with Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick since 1998 and a Partner since 2008.

Recent matters

  • Advising on the reorganisation of the financing structure of various multinationals after the phasing-out of the coordination centre regime, making use of notional interest deduction and hybrid financing as well as the Belgian tax treaty network, or a combination of all these elements.
  • Advising on the attribution of profits to the Belgian permanent establishment of a foreign company trading globally.
  • Assisting a client in a tax litigation with the Belgian VAT authorities with respect to the intra-Community supply of goods within the framework of “chain transactions”.
