Valérie Simonart
Valérie Simonart specialises in corporate law, including corporate finance law (takeover bids, etc.). She focuses on the analysis of corporate law issues and negotiating and drafting agreements (share transfers, merger protocols, etc.), and on the corporate repercussions of real estate law.
She is the author of a thesis on legal personality in private law and the co-author, with Thierry Tilquin, of the Traité des sociétés (Treatise on Companies – three volumes published, other volumes in preparation). She has also written on joint ventures and economic interest groupings, in addition to numerous articles on corporate law.
She holds a law degree (1986) and a doctor of laws (1993) from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and an LL.M. from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor (1987). She began practising law in 1987; she has been with Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick since 1994 and a partner since 1997. Valérie is also a professor at the ULB.
