Bernard Caris
Bernard Caris focuses on commercial law and business immigration. His expertise ranges from drafting contracts and legal opinions to dispute resolution in a range of commercial matters (trade practices, commercial agency and distribution agreements, ...). As far as business immigration is concerned, he deals primarily with obtaining work permits (for employees), professional cards (for the self-employed) and residence permits, always taking into account the overall situation (tax and social security consequences, possibility to obtain long term residence, ...).
Bernard Caris is a regular speaker at international conferences (IBA - "International Bar Association"; CILS - "Center for International Legal Studies") on various topics relating to business immigration. He is also the Belgian contact person for ABIL ("Alliance of Business Immigration Lawyers"), an international network of immigration professionals.
Bernard holds a law degree from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL – 1993) and a post-graduate degree in tax law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB – 1994). Bernard has been a member of the Brussels bar since October 1994 and joined Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick in October 2007.
